My Beaujolais wine-growing origins

From a long line of Beaujolais winegrowers. I grew up watching my frandfather and father working the vines and vinifying our unique Beaujolais grape variety, Gamay, in the family winery at Domaine le Boitier, in the south of the Beaujolais region known as Le Pays des Pierres Dorées – Golden Stone country.
After working for 3 years in the import and distribution of wines in London, I enriched my experience by working at internationally renowned wineries on 3 different continents. (California / J.Lohr, New Zealand / Villa Maria Estates, South Africa / Hamilton Russell Vineyards). Back in the Beaujolais, I broadened my skills by working for two renowned merchants.

A family venture

I am a native of Beaujolais, descended from several generations of winegrowers. I was raised on this wine-growing land witnessing my grandfather and father working passionately in the family vineyards and cellar. They transmitted to me this love of the vine and of our Beaujolais wines.

The creation of Maison COQUARD in 2005 is much more than a professional project, it is a life project, a transmission of knowledge and values that allow me, in my own way, to perpetuate the traditions of our ancestors.

But above all, Maison COQUARD is a return to basics for a family venture.

2005 is a pivotal date that marks not only my return home but also the birth of a family with Floriane, my partner, who shares my passion for wines and Beaujolais in particular. This same year sees the birth of Satine, our first daughter, followed in 2008 by Myrtille, and finally in 2012, by our son Céran.

Thus, in the purest traditions, Maison COQUARD, the winegrower's house of my ancestors, proudly continues to beat to the rhythm of the children and the wines of our region.
While keeping in mind the values of my ancestors and having the daily support of my family, I strive to bring this characterful house to life by offering Beaujolais wines that reflect our love of our region and its terroirs.

I work every day with love and passion for my family, for my magnificent Beaujolais region and to demonstrate that the wines we produce are world-class.

Thanks to the knowledge and values handed down by my ancestors; my specialized studies in wine; my travels and winemaking on three continents and my professional experiences in regional wine trading, I have acquired knowledge that I have been using since 2005 in the service of new ideas in Beaujolais.
My business brings new ideas to the renewal of the Beaujolais vineyard and thus enjoys a good reputation and standing. But it is not enough to modernize the image of Beaujolais by offering products that look the part, you also need wines of very high quality born of strict and rigorous selection. Modernity in wine must also be associated with great taste and quality.

Wines bearing the Christophe COQUARD signature are regularly awarded and distinguished by wine trade professionals, and increasingly recognized and appreciated by wine lovers at home and abroad. Christophe COQUARD signature wines represent a subtle blend of quality, tradition, modernity, elegance and refinement. I believe more and more in the future of the Beaujolais vineyard and I demonstrate this it through my offering of unique and remarkable wines.
